To shoulder the country’s progress the company had taken a pledge to produce sufficient quality tyres in India. The two plants, the first one at Balasore & the latest one at Laksar are dedicated to this cause.


In 1991 the Balasore plant started with an installed capacity of 50,000 truck tyres. Currently the capacity has increased to 1,20,000 truck tyres and 50,000 LCV and non-truck tyres per month.


The hi-tech Haridwar plant is build on a specious 105 acres of industrial land area and was set up in a record 10month’s time. This Rs. 750 crore factory started production on 28th March 2008 and today has a combined production capacity of over 40 lakh tyres per year or 552MT/day.

Being in the excise exemption zone the plant will enjoy excise duty gains for 10 years & 100% income tax exemption for the first 5 years & a 30% for next 5 years. The plant will become the largest single tyre factory in the world by 2010-11.

 

Expansion Plans:
For truck radial project 46acres of land have been acquired, machinery & technology have been identified and production will start by December 2009.
To bridge the demand supply gap in the two-wheeler segment plans are set to manufacture 6.5 lakh motorcycycle tyres per month.
Birla Tyres is also expanding it’s capacity of Farm tyres from 5000 to 30,000 tractor tyres per month and will therefore become one of the top three tractor tyre producers in India.
